The Official 2004 Presidential Debate Drinking Game

Let’s face it. The presidential debates are a nuisance. But for whatever reason, most television networks feel obliged to carry them. So stop your whining and make the best of a bad situation with the Official 2004 Presidential Debate Drinking Game. All you have to do is line up your favorite beverage and pick a candidate. Then let the game begin:

- Every time President Bush says the word “safer,” take a drink. If he uses the word “democracy” in the same sentence, make it a double.
- For every John Kerry reference to the UN, have a drink.
- If Bush uses the phrase “compassionate conservative,” you must chug your entire beverage.
- Take one drink for every three times Kerry points with his left hand.
- Any previously recorded Bushism, like “misunderestimate” or”subliminable,” used by the president during the debate requires one drink.
- If Kerry exceeds the time limit for any response, take a drink.
- Back-to-back offenses require a double shot and a NoDoz.
- A reference by your candidate to any of the following requires one drink:1) Florida 2) North Korea 3) Axis of evil 4) Saddam Hussein 5) The American people
- And for an exciting twist on the game, anytime anybody mentions the word “Vietnam,” everybody has to take a drink.

In this game, everyone’s a winner. At worst, you’ll reach the end of the debate experiencing a warm, pleasant buzz. But if you’re really lucky, you’ll pass out by 10 o’clock and won’t have to listen to the closing statements. Cheers!

Bud Mars

March 3rd, 2004 by Kris

March 2015 - Anheuser-Busch announced the release of a limited run of “Bud Mars”. The cold, refreshing beverage is brewed with real Martian water, undisturbed for the last 4 million years. Sadly, it still tastes like weak horse piss.

Pretty cool - did the usual Franklin Street thing…there were 78,000 people this year, so there were plenty of strange and interesting costumes to look at. Even though it was perhaps in poor taste, my favorite costume was a guy wearing clothes with burn marks on them, wearing a sign that said “Southern California homeowner”.

Oh, and happy birthday to me :)

It’s basketball season baybeeeeeeeee

October 20th, 2003 by Kris

Midnight Madness was *awesome*. Can’t wait to see our basketball team kicking some serious ass this year - I’m especially looking forward to them administering beat-downs on a certain group of players from College Park, MD who think they’re the shit because they’ve had a few good years :)

(I’m also glad that bball season is starting because our football team, to put it politely, sucks)

Eh

You know, I don’t have much sympathy for Valve. The computer(s) that the source code was sitting on were not only connected to the Internet (first big mistake), they were also running rather insecure Microsoft software (second big mistake). That’s akin to a bank leaving all their doors and the safe unlocked at night, and not expecting that people will break in. The source code for HL2 is Valve’s most important asset - I mean, that’s the sole result of the efforts of the people who work there. Why on earth they would put that work in such an easy position to be stolen boggles my mind. I’m not even a system administrator, and I know that those computers should’ve been completely disconnected from the Internet. Sheesh…

$#@!%$#@&

October 6th, 2003 by Kris

Ugh. In the past week, I’ve had the following things due: a philosophy paper, a comparative literature paper, a math homework assignment, a quantum mechanics homework assignment, a math exam, an anthropology exam, and a write-up for the first advanced lab experiment. I also have a quantum mechanics exam tomorrow, and I just found out today that the presentation topic I signed up for for anthropology is the first one that’s going to be given - a week from today. Remind me - why am I still in school?

Forgot to post this - for those of you who haven’t seen this movie, you really should. It’s an awesome movie, and Johnny Depp is the man.

Stupid Isabel

September 18th, 2003 by Kris

Well, Isabel finally decided to show up, less than fashionably late. It’s not too bad out quite yet, but the University is closing at 2, which means I get out of my 3-hour advanced lab. That’s a good thing, since that’s the one class today I probably would’ve had to go to anyway, despite being sick. Now to hope the power doesn’t go out…
