So, my pirate name is Bloody Harry Bonney. What’s yours?

Also, the following just occured while watching the Tenn-Pitt NFL game:
Patch: (looking at TV) Oh, it’s that stupid girl announcer again.
Jeff (roommate): Melissa Stark? She’s a hottie. I’d do her in the ass if she had a penis.

Jerry. Please excuse my insane friend. He seems to think it’s funny to fuck with my friends. He does not eat penguins. And I don’t know what that BLAST thing was about.

“Israel treats its 1 million Arabs as second-class citizens, a disgrace on its democracy. And yet the tragedy of the Arab world is that Israel accords them more political rights and dignities than most Arab nations give to their own people. Why is the focus of Arab anger on Israel and not those regimes?” -Newsweek, Fareed Zakaria

I just overheard this from two of my flatmates:

Jeff: “Chris, what are you burning?”
Chris: (Exasperated) “WATER!”

I’d like to preface this with a warning that this is a very long posting, and that it’s deep.

This evening, I went to a party at a friend’s house. I had expected a much smaller gathering, instead, this was basically the frat kind of party, at which,as you may know I do very poorly. I really can’t explain why. I’ll get back to this in a second.

Anyway, I’m reading Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff for Men. There’s a lot of interesting information in there, and I can see where I do a lot of it. In fact, I think I may be taking myself to seriously right now, which is cautioned against in the book. Luckily, one of the keys to doing better is to be able to see when you’re doing stuff that one should try to avoid.

Another of the tips is that you have to share. I think that’s a really important concept to recognize. Sharing is explaining one’s wants and desires, explaining issues and talking about problems. The author makes a good point to make sure the reader understands that whining and bitching aren’t sharing - sharing brings people closer, and whining drives them away.

Now, back to the issue of parties. To where does this lead? Well, I did some thinking on my way back to my apartment tonight, and I’m really not sure how I want to feel - which is perfectly fine. I realize that I’m the only one who can choose that. I can tell that I’m not very good at frat-style parties, but that my social skills lend themselves perfectly to social gatherings of a different type, the more adult-types. I can work to improve my party skills, or I can sit here and share…both are perfectly good endevours, but I don’t know which one is better.

On my way home, I got to thinking that maybe if I spend less time online, I’ll be better at it…just communication in general. Perhaps the lack of intrapersonal contact and body language has altered my mindset and abilities, and I may just have to work my way out of it.

This last paragraph is my thought of the night, since I just thought of it. Heh. A relationship can’t be based off of beer drinking or sex or pure attractiveness or whether or not someone’s a party animal. Relationships are based of of friendship and respect and mutual exchanges - it’s all about…guess what? Sharing.

Fin.

Buy this book…

Marvel Comics’ tribute book to the police and fire fighters who gave their all on 9/11 and al the people affected by the attacks on America, aptly titled Heroes.

Check your local comic store, or call the Comic Shop Locator at 1-800 COMIC BOOK to find a store near you…the book’s a thing of beauty and all proceeds (it costs $3.50 for 64 magazine-style pages of art and text tributes) go to charity.

So, I had my marketing midterm today. Went to class, sat down, and pulled out a pencil. The prof and a TA start handing out tests, but when they reach the back of the room, something happens. Everyone is waiting.

The prof walks down to the front of the room, and says he’s going to ask another TA upstairs for some of her tests. The class becomes restless.

Comes back down, he has about 10 tests.

So, 60% of the class is just sitting there, without a test.

Then, there’s the brilliant idea. Just share the tests! So we do.

What a wierd exam.
